Political group IRSP Newry have condemned the removal of Emergency General Surgery services at Daisy Hill Hospital.
A spokesperson for the group stated:
“Once again the Southern Trust are attempting to down grade/dilute the much needed services at Daisy Hill Hospital.
The latest proposal is the removal of all emergency surgery: Appendectomy, perforated gall bladder and strangulated hernia surgery, is to be carried out at Craigavon Area Hospital instead of Daisy Hill.
Time and again the Southern Trust have attempted to strip Daisy Hill of vital services, and time and again the people of Newry have opposed their advances.
The IRSP will oppose all attempts to close or dilute the much needed services at Daisy Hill.”
