Sinn Féin MLA for Newry and Armagh, Cathal Boylan, welcomed an engagement with a number of GP’s in Keady.
Speaking after the meeting, Cathal commented:
“Myself and my party colleague Mickey Brady MP attended a meeting with GPs in Keady to discuss the current pressures on GP’s and what can be done to assist them.
“We had an open and constructive meeting with the GPs, discussing the pressures they are under currently and how COVID has affected their day-to-day work. It is quite clear that GPs faced considerable additional pressures since COVID-19 first emerged.
“Meeting with GPs in Keady was very welcome and it was productive to hear directly from the GP’s themselves.
“It is vital that GPs are supported urgently with the roll out of multidisciplinary teams to help ease the pressure on their services. The ongoing pandemic and the current government restrictions are making their job even more challenging.
Concluding on the meeting, Cathal Boylan commented:
“GPs services provide a range of vital services and are often the first point of contact for health services. Supporting GPs and the wider public to access treatments and services must be a priority for the Department of Health., as it is clearly a priority for the people of Keady.”
