Detectives have welcomed the sentencing of a 53 year old man at Newry Crown Court on Tuesday 14th December.
The man was sentenced to 7 years and 10 months for a number of sexual offences against a child, including , sexual assault by penetration, inciting child family member to engage in sexual activity and indecent exposure.
He will serve a total of 3 years and 11 months in prison and 3 years and 11 months on licence.
He will be placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.
Constable Lyons said: “Officers in the Police Service of Northern Ireland remain committed to investigating all reports of sexual offences against children and young people. We will seek to place offenders before the courts so they can be made amenable for their crimes.
