The Southern Trust has come under fire after it was revealed that £23 million from the Department of Health would be used to help the social care sector. This investment has now been used by Independent care companies to increase their pay bands for Care Assistants. A move welcomed during these difficult times.
However despite Clanrye News and Sport trying to contact the Southern Trust on numerous occasions and even chatted to one of their press officers over the phone. The Southern Trust has now refused to comment on whether or not they will also increase their domiciliary care pay alongside their independent counterparts.
The lack of information and low pay has put the Southern Trust under significant pressure to retain staff with many domiciliary care staff contacting Clanrye News and indicating that they may leave the NHS and move to the private sector as a result of low pay.
More to follow.
