SDLP MLA Dolores Kelly and Lurgan Councillor Ciaran Toman have welcome a commitment from the Department for Infrastructure to carry out resurfacing works at Taghnevan Close, Dingwell Park, Richmount Gardens and Ashdene Park.
Commenting, Dolores Kelly MLA said;
“This is a welcome step forward in the campaign to have these areas resurfaced. For some time, Ciaran and I have been highlighting these areas to the local DfI team and urging them to carry out a resurfacing scheme rather than the ‘patchwork’ workmanship to repair defects on our roads.
“DfI proposes to resurface Taghnevan Close, Dingwell Park, Richmount Gardens and Ashdene Park as one scheme.
“This secured commitment ensures that this work is now on their schedule to be complete this financial year however, it may straddle into next year’s programme as it is dependent upon finance and contractor resource.
Councillor Ciaran Toman added;
“This is great news for the people of Taghnevan with this significant investment to improve the road surface in a number of residential streets.
“There is barely a time when I’m out and about picking up issues in Taghnevan that the deterioration of our roads is not raised with me.
“Working with Dolores on this, we have secured this commitment from DfI and now it is a case of lobbying to have the work carried out as soon as possible.
