Sinn Féin MLA for Newry and Armagh, Conor Murphy, has welcomed a meeting with Newry, Mourne and Down District Council for discussion on projects across the area.
Speaking after the meeting Conor said:
“Today myself and my colleagues; Liz Kimmins MLA, Mickey Brady MP and Cllr Oonagh Magennis met with senior council officials to discuss a number of projects tied into the regeneration of Newry city.
“Projects such as the Southern relief road and general city deals investment are a game changer for the city of Newry and will bring more opportunities into the city to benefit workers and families.
“I was particularly pleased to hear that there has also been some progress on the project of developing a facility at Camlough lake. This will be a massive boost to the tourism of South Armagh and has been a long time coming.
“Sinn Féin is committed to the regeneration of Newry for the benefit of the whole town as well as developing the vast, untapped tourism potential of South Armagh by supporting the development of local sites like Camlough lake and lobbying for inclusion in ‘Ireland’s Ancient East’
