UUP Slieve Gullion Councillor and Assembly candidate David Taylor has welcomed the news that Newry, Mourne and Down District Council will apply for funding for the Albert Basin Park.
Speaking on the issue Cllr Taylor said:
“I would be very supportive of the proposal by Council to submit a request through the City Deals Complimentary Fund for substantial funding towards a Public Park at the Albert Basin. This is a positive development and I have no doubt it will be widely welcomed.”
“There is a clear commitment from Council to progress with the Park Proposal and this request for substantial funding is testament to that. The level of funding sought by Council would allow significant progress to be achieved and I certainly believe the project would be extremely worthy of support under this fund and I hope it can be looked upon favourably by the Department of Finance.”
