SDLP Assembly Member Justin McNulty has sent his best wishes to Team Ireland as the Olympic Games get underway in Tokyo.
The Newry & Armagh MLA said, ‘I want to take the opportunity to wish every member of the Irish Olympic team the very best of luck as they prepare to represent our country on the most prestigious of international stages.
‘The dedication, discipline, and commitment that has brought these athletes to where they are now is completely awe inspiring – I know that they will do Ireland proud.
‘I want to pay particular tribute to two local members of Team Ireland – Roisin Murphy & Paul Carragher. Roisin, a native of Silverbridge, is a former Armagh Gaelic footballer, and has distinguished herself at both club and county level. Roisin is stepping up to the mark as the physiotherapist for the Ireland Women’s Hockey Team.
“Paul, a native of Newtownhamilton, was the long-time physio for the Armagh Football team and is the lead physio for Team Ireland at the games in Tokyo. I know that both Roisin & Paul will do the county proud.
“To represent your country on any stage is a privilege, to represent your country at the Olympics is an honour afforded to a very small number of people. I wish each of the 127 athletes representing Ireland every success – we’re all behind you and will be roaring you on.
