Aontú Deputy Leader & Cllr for Mid Ulster, Denise Mullen, has called for immediate clarity from Sinn Féin on whether their fake pollsters were deployed in the North and when. Furthermore, all political parties on the island of Ireland need to either confirm or deny they used fake pollsters to collect voter data.
Cllr Mullen: “It really is very concerning that a mainstream political party like Sinn Féin actually used fake pollsters and a fake polling company to deceive voters and gather data and information for their own gain. Furthermore, it is equally damning that all three government parties in the South were found to have used fake pollsters for their own political gain as well. However, there needs to be immediate clarity and investigation if necessary whether fake pollsters were used in the North by Sinn Féin. Did Sinn Féin operate their fake polling company on a ‘6 and 26-county basis’, or is practice more widespread than Sinn Féin have thus far admitted?”
“There also needs to be clarity from every political party on the island of Ireland on whether they utilised fake pollsters to collect data at any point across the 32 counties. It really is quite incredible that despite all the news coverage of illegal practices in Britain and America, such as the Cambridge Analytica scandal, that similarly illegal practices were going on right here at home. The Irish people deserve the truth, and steps need to be taken to remove the advantage accrued from these illegal actions.”
