Disappointment With Translink Failure To Put In Place Bus Shelter Provision Programme.

Newry Mourne & Down Sinn Féin Councillor, Declan Murphy, has expressed disappointment after learning from a report at the Council’s Neighbourhood Services Committee that Translink has yet to put in place a programme for work for the provision of bus shelters.

The Slieve Gullion area Councillor said,

“Despite Translink having agreed in principle to partner with the council for the provision of these much-needed shelters, it has been dragging its heels and to date no work has begun under this new arrangement.

This is negatively impacting on the Council’s ability to provide new bus shelters in the more rural parts of our community. Whenever Translink fulfils its part of the agreement the council will be able to maintain the existing bus shelters more efficiently”.

Concluding the Sinn Féin elected representative said,

“I have requested my Party colleague, Liz Kimmons MLA, who sits on the Department for Infrastructure Committee, to ask the Minister when can we expect to see some action from Translink”.
