New Off-Street Car Parking Provider Appointed by Council

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council has agreed a new contract with Marston Holdings Ltd to provide enforcement parking services within our 39 Off-Street car parks, this will commence on Tuesday 2 April 2024.

Enforcement has been provided since 2015 through an Agreement with the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) who employ the ‘red coat’ traffic attendants. From 2 April, Marston Holdings Ltd will provide those services in Newry Mourne and Down and 7 other council areas in Northern Ireland.

The main change that car park users will see is that the Parking attendants will wear a blue uniform, but their responsibilities and legal authority remains the same, and any Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) issued will be valid.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Valerie Harte said, “I am pleased that we have been able to move swiftly on securing a new provider and look forward to working with Marston Holdings Ltd over the next 5 years. As a Council we always put our residents first and wanted to ensure there is no disruption to services whilst getting on board a new provider to deliver this very important service. Residents should see no disruption to our Off-Street car parking services as we mobilise the contract, and we are committed to providing a high-quality service for residents across the district.”

Residents can still use coin/cash to pay for their parking in any of the district’s 11 Pay and Display car parks in Newry, Downpatrick and Ballynahinch.  The ‘Just Park’ app will be replaced by the ‘Ring Go’ app, enabling car park users to continue to have the option to pay through their mobile phones.

For On-Street car parking in Newry city which is managed by DfI residents can still continue to use coin/cash and the ‘Just Park’ app.

Off-Street car park users should download the new ‘Ring Go’ app onto their phones and use it from 2 April 2024. Please visit www.ringgo.co.uk or download via Google Play or Apple App Store.

Car park season tickets, which are already available at most pay and display car parks, will continue to be available to those who wish to purchase in advance. Tickets already purchased will remain valid until their expiry date. For further information please contact 0333 0068 351 from 2 April 2024.

From April, parking complaints, including Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) appeals, will be dealt with by Marston Holdings Ltd through the following contact number 0333 0068 351.
