Speaking at the launch of Sinn Féin’s Upper Bann Assembly election candidates launch in Lurgan on Tuesday evening, Sinn Féin Leas-Uachtarán Michelle O’Neill said:
“Next May, people across Upper Bann will have the opportunity to elect two Sinn Féin MLAs.
“John O’Dowd and Catherine Nelson are strong local representatives who champion Upper Bann every day, working tirelessly on behalf of local people and communities.
John has represented Upper Bann since 2003 and has held various positions in the Assembly including Education Minister, Infrastructure Minister and Finance Minister.
“Catherine has also served as an MLA and as a serving councillor and teacher is passionate about improving the education system for pupils, classroom assistants and teachers.
“Sinn Féin is determined to build on our electoral success by winning additional seats across the North. I am asking the people of Upper Bann to join us in shaping a better future for everyone.”
John O’Dowd MLA said:
“I am honoured to have once again been selected to contest next year’s Assembly election, alongside Councillor Catherine Nelson.
“Every day, I will continue working to deliver a better future for everyone who shares this island. That means investing in our public services and the economy, creating well paid jobs and supporting workers and families.
“In Upper Bann, we have a real opportunity to make further progress. Every vote will count, and together we can secure two Sinn Féin seats and return a strong team to the Assembly to help create real change.”
Councillor Catherine Nelson said:
“I am honoured to have been selected to stand for Sinn Féin in Upper Bann alongside John O’Dowd in next year’s Assembly election.
