Alliance Councillor, Patrick Brown, welcomes the newly implemented pedestrian crossing at Saintfield Community Centre.
Cllr Brown said: “I am delighted to see that the new pedestrian crossing between Saintfield Community Centre and the High school is almost ready to go. Alliance has been lobbying Newry, Mourne and Down District Council and the Department of Infrastructure to deliver this since the Community Centre was built, so I am pleased to see it finally in place. I would again like to thank the Department for taking action to improve road safety.”
“As previously stated, the crossing will be greatly welcomed by the local community, who have been pushing for increased road safety in the town for some time. In particular, it will allow Saintfield High students safer access to the centre, meaning they will be able to benefit from the facilities on offer and enhance their sports programme.”
“Additionally, it increases the Community Centre’s accessibility for residents and those visiting, allowing them to take part in a range of activities (from fitness classes to family support groups) with ease. I hope that this encourages more people to utilize the offerings of the centre.”
