Sinn Féin representatives Aoife Finnegan MLA and Councillor Áine Quinn have welcomed a commitment from Newry, Mourne and Down District Council to address ongoing lighting issues at the Ballsmill car park.
The Newry and Armagh MLA said:
“For some time, we have been raising concerns on behalf of residents around the lack of lighting at Ballsmill. We now welcome the Council’s commitment to bringing forward the necessary repairs, which will make a real difference for those using the car park once completed.
“We had also contacted DfI regarding lighting on land under their responsibility, and we appreciate the swift action already taken to fix that section.”
Councillor Áine Quinn added:
“We are pleased to have secured a site meeting with council officials in the New Year to discuss these matters further and ensure the community’s needs remain a priority.
“Sinn Féin will continue working with residents and all relevant agencies to ensure Ballsmill is safe, accessible and properly maintained.”
