Translink, in partnership with The Bytes Project, has announced the upcoming Translink Youth Conference, which will bring together young people from across Northern Ireland to discuss, debate, and share their ideas on public transport.
The conference, which will take place at Ulster University’s Belfast Campus on Saturday 15th November, is part of Translink’s ongoing commitment to engaging with the next generation and ensuring young people have a meaningful say in shaping the future of travel across the region.
Hosted by members of the Translink Youth Forum, the day will feature interactive workshops, panel discussions, and creative sessions designed to capture the voices and visions of young people.
Speaking about the importance of the conference, Maeve Nethercott, Translink Brand Representative, said:
“We’re delighted to host this conference in partnership with The Bytes Project and to provide a platform for young people to have their say on the future of public transport in Northern Ireland. Their insights are invaluable as they use our services every day, and their ideas will help us deliver better, more sustainable travel solutions for the future.”
Liam McCusker, Deputy CEO of The Bytes Project, added:
“At The Bytes Project we believe in empowering young people to influence the systems that impact their lives. This partnership with Translink gives youth from every background the chance to be heard and to help shape a more inclusive and connected transport network.”
Ella Olu-Sholanke, a member of the Translink Youth Forum, highlighted the importance of the event:
“This conference is a great opportunity for young people like me to speak directly to decision-makers. It’s about more than buses and trains. It’s about making sure public transport works for everyone and plays a part in building a greener, fairer future.”
The Translink Youth Conference is free to attend and open to young people aged 16–23. Spaces are limited and registration is required.
