Police in Newry received a report of a man carrying a hatchet in the Hill Street area, shortly after 1.15pm on Tuesday 21st October. Officers attended and arrested a 36 year old man.
The man has since been charged with possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and will appear at court on a date to be confirmed.
