Quinn Welcomes DfI Commitment to Repair Bridge Wall and Deliver Rural Investment

Sinn Féin Councillor Áine Quinn has welcomed the start of repair works at Donnelly’s Bridge in Silverbridge, with contractors now on-site carrying out essential maintenance.

“This is a positive development for the area, with work underway including de-vegetation, repointing, and structural scraping to restore the bridge. I’ve been engaging with the Department for Infrastructure in recent weeks to help ensure this issue was prioritised.

“DfI have confirmed that traffic lights and a lane closure will remain in place until the work is completed, which is expected to take approximately 2.5 weeks.

Councillor Quinn also commended Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins for her role in ensuring rural areas continue to receive attention:

“I want to thank Minister Liz Kimmins for her clear commitment to rural communities — especially in the face of major budgetary constraints and competing pressures. Her determination to deliver for rural areas like Silverbridge is making a real difference locally.

“Sinn Féin will continue working to secure further investment in rural infrastructure, ensuring local communities are supported, connected, and not left behind.”
