Newry Workers Party Attends Newry Pride

Workers Party Newry Representative Nicola Grant said she was proud of party comrades from the LGBTQ+, the women’s committee, the Youth Wing and the branches who participated in Newry Pride. She said the weather may have been damp but there was no sign of dampened spirts. The wind and Torrential rain did not affect the atmosphere of solidarity shown by political parties, trade unions, and other community organisations,  Or the people who came out from shops, pubs, and restaurants to cheer and show their support for the parade.

It was wonderful to see Newry Pride on our streets again; the Workers Party will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBTQ+ Community in their struggle against all forms of discrimination, as we have done for decades. Pride to the party is still an occasion for us to parade in solidarity, but to also protest against those who seek to capitalise , profit, and exploit, what they see as the pink pound. Identity is used under the capitalist system to divide; socialism seeks to unite us. Gay Rights are Human Rights.

Thank you, Newry Pride, for a wet but wonderful day. Looking forward to marching with you again next year.
