Workers Party Newry and Armagh representative Nicola Grant has expressed concern of safety issues at John F Kennedy park especially during icy weather conditions.
Speaking to Clanrye News and Sport Nicola said:
“I have been contacted by residents of John F Kennedy park asking that the workers Party highlight the following issues. I have visited the area to assess the situation. Serious issues with overgrown hedges and wet leaves, particularly on the hill leading to the bus stop and McCooeys shop.”
“These conditions pose significant safety risks, especially in icy weather, and create access challenges for prams and individuals who rely on support, such as railings, to navigate the area. Especially as there is a number of local elderly residents.”
“I understand the urgency of this matter and will contact the council immediately to request that these issues are addressed as soon as possible.
Ensuring safe and accessible pathways for all residents is a priority, and I will keep you updated on progress. If you have additional concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. The Workers Party will work with the community to make our environment safe for everyone.”
