From Monday, 2nd December 2024, rail passengers should purchase their local weekly and monthly paper tickets on mLink, the free Translink mobile app, offering a quick, easy and budget-friendly way to travel.
Switching to mLink will give passengers more flexibility, greater convenience and in some cases be even better value. Additionally, weekly and monthly tickets can be bought up to 72 hours before travel and offer the added security of being on a passengers’ phone meaning less risk of misplacing them. Customers with a yLink or 24+ Rail card can add these to their mLink account to access discounts at their fingertips.
Whilst local weekly and monthly paper rail tickets will no longer be available to purchase from 2nd December, customers preferring cash payments can buy an iLink card offering unlimited travel on bus and rail services for various zones across Northern Ireland for a day, week or month.
These can be topped up for travel at any of the 240 Ticket Vending Machines available across the Translink network or at over 1,000 PayPoint agents across Northern Ireland.
This move is in line with the growing trend and customer demand for mobile apps and smart ticketing for an enhanced overall customer experience alongside advancing Translink’s ambitious plans for a greener, digital-led future ticketing strategy.
Using mLink and iLink also mean faster boarding times and easy access through the new gates at Grand Central Station.
The Translink app is free and available for download on Android or iOS devices.
