- 6km walk takes place at St Colman’s College on Saturday 28th September 2024
Southern Area Hospice, alongside event sponsors McKeevers Chemists, are delighted to invite local individuals to join them at the 16th Annual Midnight Memory Walk, which will take place on Saturday 28th September, at 11pm.
Starting at St Colman’s College Newry, this 6km family walk has become a very special event for both the local community and the Hospice. On the night, there will be poignant music from the Choir Studio and warming refreshments, provided each year by Courtneys. Those attending will also receive a memory bib to wear and to state who they are walking in memory of. The Hospice’s Memory Wall will be in situ on the night so that people can place a dedication for their loved one for all to view.
This year the Hospice needs to raise an incredible £3.6 million of the more than £5m needed to run its services. The Midnight Memory Walk has become a much needed source of income. The money raised from last year’s event helped to provide over 47 hours of Hospice care to local people and their families and will have made such a profound difference to their lives.
Paul Mc Keever of McKeevers Chemists commented, “We are delighted to be working with Southern Area Hospice on its Midnight Memory Walk. The Hospice is a charity that is very close to the hearts of the staff and customers of McKeevers Chemists and this walk is a wonderful opportunity to raise money for this fantastic cause whilst remembering our loved ones.”
