Sinn Féin MLA Liz Kimmins has said an Executive is needed to help families in need of care packages and to invest in the under-pressure health service.
Commenting on reports that over 4,000 people are waiting for some form of home care package, the party’s social care spokesperson said:
“The rapid decline in care packages delivered is deeply concerning and impacting on families who are badly in need of support to help take care of their loved ones.
“With over 4,000 people on a waiting list, staff are also facing huge challenges due to lack of resources and understaffing. This needs to be urgently addressed.
“Nurses and care workers cannot deliver for their patients without the resources to do so.
“We need an Executive to invest in our health service, tackle waiting lists and fund vital services. Families in need of urgent support cannot wait.”
