Studio Eleven Tattoo & Creative Arts is an exciting new artist’s studio located on Monaghan St, Newry.
The studio has been opened by Anna Keenan-Laverty and her partner, where they have combined their creative industries of Tattoo & Voice, in order to help grow and sustain a network of arts, culture, & activity within Newry & Mourne with cross border and national interactions.
“We are an Artist’s Studio, a unique space where tattoo & creative arts merge, housing a wide range of arts practices through here. I am an actor, theatre-maker, writer, voice specialist, voice-over artist & musician, where Voice has been my main practice for over 15 years. I wanted to host artists from a wide range of arts practices & backgrounds, not just my own.
With the coming of our inaugural Creative Arts programme, I am very excited to share what we have in store. I have a fantastic list of electrifying Artist’s & Practitioners who have confirmed their involvement in the programme, which is going to bring a really unique learning opportunity to Newry, Mourne, & Down. This is the kind of programme and business that will bring those interested in the Arts from different parts of the island to our area simply because of the calibre of the artists that we have involved. I was one of those people who travelled for these kinds of opportunities, which only ever seemed available in Dublin or Belfast. However, there’s something in the water here in Newry, Mourne, & Down, we have such a strong wealth of talent and creative expression, a level that can stand out internationally. We have the energy here, and we deserve a safe creative space for people to engage with the arts.”
In the run up to the release of the Creative Arts Programme which will include exclusive workshop opportunities, a range of creative events, and gallery, there is plenty happening at Studio Eleven Tattoo & Creative Arts.
Currently on offer for you to bring your energy & get involved in the Creative Arts are individual workshop sessions in “Voice”, and “Performance for Musicians”.
Within “Voice” you will learn the fundamentals of Voice, a deeper discovery into your vocal instrument, and a mixture of classical, physical, & performance techniques. You will go on a journey into finding your authentic voice, feeling what that is like, and opening up & creating a consistent free channel of expression. Accessible for all levels, recreational learning, graded syllabus, personal, or continued professional training.
In “Performance for Musicians (Vocalists & Non Vocalists!)” you will take an in depth look into music performance, the journey to being uniquely yourself as an artist, balanced with pushing your musical abilities. Whether you are already a gigging musician, leading professional, or starting to learn an instrument for the first time, this workshop is a must for any performer.
“What I think is most exciting about this particular workshop is that it can be booked as an individual or as a band! It creates an opportunity for local artists to have access to detailed and in-depth industry knowledge whilst splitting the cost, making it more accessible and inclusive, and I think more fun!”
Anna also offers services in Public Speaking & Business Presentation for individuals and businesses within local enterprises.

Individual workshop slots are limited and these take place around Tattoo & Piercing studio opening hours. Tattoos are even available for your favourite guitar, making your instrument a true one off piece, hand engraved and available in a variety of colours.

Anna Keenan-Laverty – Artist Bio:
Anna Keenan-Laverty is an actor, writer, voice specialist, voice-over artist, and musician from Newry & Mourne who trained at the Gaiety School of Acting.
Anna has worked as a voice specialist & vocal musician for over 15 years within Ireland & UK. She has facilitated Voice, Acting, & Performance with all age ranges for institutions such as Crescent Arts Centre Belfast, Oh Yeah Music Centre Belfast, BEAM Creative Network, Westside Performing Arts Dublin, Trinity College London, and National Health & Social Care Trust. As a musician Anna is involved in numerous musical projects as a session musician, recording artist, commercial vocalist, song-writer, and collaborative artist.
Her play LEGS WIDE SHUT (co-written & performed) at Smock Alley Theatre 1662 directed by Emily Foran was selected & debuted as part of Scene + Heard: The Festival of New Work 2020. She has also worked as casting director, with eight commercial casting credits including BELFAST: A SMALL STEP TO A GIANT ADVENTURE with Tiny Ark for Tourism Northern Ireland, A BEAT AHEAD with Sweet Media for Laya Healthcare directed by BUGSY, DONEGAL’S BEST KEPT SECRETS with Taller Stories for Gallagher’s Bakehouse featuring Daniel O’Donnell, and a feature film credit TUESDAY TRADERS for Big Bay Entertainment.
She will next be seen in PIRATE QUEEN a site-specific new-writing telling the life of Gráinne Ni Mháille for Green Room Productions NI directed by Patsy Montgomery-Hughes.
