Sinn Féin councillor Cathal King has urged the people of Newry and South Armagh to come together in support of the people of Palestine in the face of the latest onslaught from the Israeli Military.
The Newry City councillor said:
“Tomorrow night, Tuesday 24th October, we will be taking part in a vigil to show support and solidarity with the Palestinian people.
“The rally will begin at 6pm at the Camlough road roundabout.
“For decades, the Israeli state has breached international law, day in and day out, with collective punishment, annexation, confiscation of lands and the imposition of an apartheid regime.
“A lasting and just peace between Palestinians and Israelis requires an end to the occupation and apartheid systems being imposed upon the Palestinian people.
“To stop the cycle of violence, we need ceasefires, the renewal of dialogue, and the rigorous enforcement of international law equally for all.
“We need to see an end to the occupation and an end to Israel’s apartheid regime that violates the rights of Palestinians.”
