TUV leader Jim Allister has rendered the return of Stormont impossible following recent revelations that the Provisional IRA was involved in a campaign to smear a police officer.
Statement by TUV leader Jim Allister:
“The disclosure at the High Court that the Provisional IRA was involved in a campaign to smear a police officer as recently as 2017 renders a return of Stormont under the leadership of Michelle O’Neill impossible.
“In 2007 the DUP made the removal of “terrorist structures” a red line when it came to sharing power with Republicans. Now we know that not only does the PIRA continue to exist but it engaged in a campaign to discredit a police officer. Remember also that another red line for the DUP was support for the police and the rule of law.
“The idea that any Unionist would contemplate enthroning Sinn Fein as the lead party of government while their murderous IRA continues to lurk in the shadows is baffling.”
