Sinn Féin councillor Sarah Duffy has hailed the local turnout for the inaugural ‘Chieftain’s Walk’ in support of the Martin McGuinness Peace Foundation.
The Armagh City Councillor said:
“We were joined by a large number of people in Armagh city this weekend for our first Chieftain’s walk, an event we now hope to hold annually in the city.
“Every year, ‘The Chieftain’s Walk’ allows people from all across Ireland to walk together in remembering Martin McGuinness and to rededicate ourselves to fulfilling his vision of a new and united Ireland for all.
“The funds raised by the ‘Chieftain’s Walk’ go towards supporting the work of the Martin McGuinness Peace Foundation.
“The foundation works to build peace and reconciliation nationally and internationally to ensure Martin’s legacy of peace building lives on in Ireland and across the world.
“I would like to thank everyone who came out to join us and look forward to seeing them and even more when we host the event again next year.”
