The two week period of industrial action short of strike by union members at Newry, Mourne and Down District Council has concluded and Council are now working through the backlog of missed bin collections.
WEEK COMMENCING MONDAY 31 JULY
If your Blue and Brown bin has not been collected on your normal collection day, please leave it at the kerbside.
Catch up collections for Blue and Brown bins will take place throughout the week including Saturday 5 August. As this is the scheduled Recycling (Blue Bin) Week, black bins cannot be collected.
WEEK COMMENCING MONDAY 7 AUGUST
Black (and Brown Bin collections due that week) resume as normal.
A spokesperson for NMD Council has said:
“The two week period of industrial action short of a strike by members of the four recognised trade unions in Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, concluded on Sunday 30 July.
Council Management remains committed to finding a resolution to this dispute and discussions continue today, Tuesday 1 August, again facilitated by the Labour Relations Agency.”
