In a sickening twist Nationwide has now resorted to freezing the bank accounts of Saoradh members children with Stephen Murney’s 17 year old son becoming the latest victim.
Earlier this week [19th July] Saoradh reported that Stephen and his partner Cliodhna McCool had their bank accounts frozen on the orders of the PSNI/MI5.
It has now transpired today [22nd July] that Stephen’s young son has had his Nationwide account frozen in the exact same manner. It must be pointed out that his son is completely non-political and is clearly being punished by the occupier because of his father’s legitimate political beliefs.
Stephen’s son works a part time job in the centre of Newry and is now unable to access his wages.
This brings to six the number of Republicans, and now family members, who have had their accounts frozen or closed in the past 3 weeks as a further Nationwide account of a Derry Saoradh member has been closed.
The Derry Republican, who is self employed, has had his Nationwide account closed without reason. Like those previous, he contacted his local Nationwide branch however they informed him they were unable to give him any further information.
It must be noted that when the infamous fascist Nigel Farage had his bank account closed for “political reasons” it received national and international media coverage.
It seems that Irish Republicans are fair game for economic punishment given the fact that there seems to be a media blackout when half a dozen Republican families are targeted in similar fashion.
Not only are the media silent on this obscene act of oppression but local politicians have not uttered a single word of concern in regards to this.
