Sinn Féin MP Mickey Brady has condemned an arson attack at the home of a local member of Aontú who recently stood for election.
The Newry and Armagh MP said:
“I unreservedly condemn this deplorable arson attack which destroyed Sharon Loughran’s car which was parked at her home.
“This was a sinister act of intimidation which could have resulted in serious injury or worse.
“Sharon recently put herself before the people in the council elections and this action is an attack on the democratic process and the whole community and what makes this attack even more reprehensible is that Sharon is a health worker.
“All parties must stand united in condemning this appalling attack on Sharon and her family.
“Everyone should be able to work free from intimidation and the PSNI must do all in its power to bring those behind this attack before the courts.
“I would urge anyone with information to bring it forward to the police.
