Sinn Féin MLA Sinéad Ennis has welcomed funding which will help progress development of Narrow Water Bridge as key to ‘unlocking South Down’s potential’.
Speaking after the Irish government committed funding through the Shared Island fund to complete the tender process and a number of other all-island projects, Sinéad Ennis said:
“The announcement to complete the tender on Narrow Water Bridge was part of €56m committed by the Irish government from its Shared Island fund to a number of all-island projects.
“These include plans to build a new €45m student and teaching building at the Magee campus of Ulster University in Derry, a respite and therapeutic centre for children with cancer and their families, a new all-island Youth Forum, and the construction of two bio-economy demonstrators.
“I am delighted the Irish government has committed funds to progress the development of the Narrow Water Bridge Project.
“Sinn Féin is committed to seeing this project delivered and we will continue to work together with local businesses and the community to ensure it is completed.
“This is a transformational project and key to unlocking South Down’s huge potential to create good quality jobs, boost tourism and create a stronger, all-Ireland economy.
“Sinn Féin will continue to ensure Narrow Water Bridge is delivered to improve the lives of workers, families and local businesses across South Down.”
