Newry and Armagh Sinn Féin MLA Liz Kimmins has welcomed the seizure near Jerrettspass, just outside Newry, of firearms linked to a criminal drugs gang.
The MLA said,
“This has been described by the Police as a significant arms seizure.
This is very welcome news, it reduces the ability of these organised criminal gangs who prey on our communities and in particular the most vulnerable.
The removal of these firearms from our streets will undoubtedly ensure a safer place for all.
Drugs cause untold harm in our communities and those involved in this trade of death and destruction must be pursued, apprehended and face the full rigors of the law”
