SDLP Justin McNulty MLA has consistently brought the issue of potholes to the Minister for Infrastructure Liz Kimmins and her Department and seeking urgent action to make our roads safe. The Minister’s constituency sits at the centre of the Newry, Mourne, and Down and Armagh, Banbridge, and Craigavon council areas, where more than a third of all the reported potholes in the North from 2025 to present exist.
Mr McNulty states:
“The roads across Newry and Armagh are in a dire state of disrepair and danger. My office receives an onslaught of calls every day from people lamenting the perilous potholes and the expensive damages to their vehicles.
Over the past weeks, I have written two letters to the Minister outlining a total of 333 pothole locations for the Department of Infrastructure’s attention, seeking a timeline for their repair and resurfacing works. I hope the Minister will respond promptly to the hazards highlighted by our constituents who want an urgent update on when they will be repaired.”
