Consumer Council Welcomes Firmus Energy 10.10% Tariff Reduction

firmus energy today has announced a reduction on their regulated gas tariffs of 10.10%, for domestic and small business customers in the Ten Towns gas network areas, effective from 01 April 2026.

The firmus energy tariff reduction means that the annual gas bill of a typical household with a credit meter will be reduced by around £94. Customers with a prepayment gas meter (PAYG) will see their typical costs reduce by around £92 per year.

This announcement follows a previous tariff decrease of 8.47% from firmus energy in October 2025. The reduction will be welcomed by around 75,000 domestic and small business Firmus Energy gas customers in the Ten Towns gas network area. An announcement regarding the Greater Belfast Network area will be made in the coming weeks.

Karen Smyth, Director of Infrastructure and Sustainability at the Consumer Council said: “We welcome this gas tariff decrease from firmus energy. However, energy prices are still well above pre-pandemic levels, and the energy market continues to remain volatile due to ongoing global geopolitical concerns.

“The Consumer Council works closely with the Utility Regulator and regulated supply companies to ensure that any cost savings are passed onto consumers quickly when wholesale energy prices begin to decrease. We also help protect and support consumers during energy price increases.

“We urge anyone who is struggling to pay their energy bills or top-up their meters to contact their supplier directly, as suppliers have indicated that they are keen to offer their customers help and support.”
