Sinn Féin MP Chris Hazzard has slammed the US and Israeli attacks on Iran, describing them as an outrageous violation of the United Nations Charter and the multilateral system.
The South Down MP said: “These attacks by the US and Israel do nothing but bring the threat of wider conflict in the Middle East closer.
“In the midst of ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran, these attacks are outrageous violations of the United Nations Charter and the multilateral system.
“This escalation must be condemned and the attacks should end immediately while a return to negotiations must be a priority.”
Mr Hazzard continued: “Many people from here will be deeply worried about their loved ones living in the Middle East.
“I would encourage anyone concerned who is living abroad or has families overseas to contact the Irish or British Embassies for assistance.”
