Newry’s Indo Celtic Fusion Fest Celebrates City’s Rich Culture

More than 100 people attended Newry’s first ever Indo Celtic Fusion Fest, which took place at Threeways Community Centre on Tuesday 24 February.

Organised by Newry Indian Arts Club, the vibrant cultural celebration brought together Indian and Irish cultures with a rich blend of traditional music, dance and art.

The event was delivered with support from the Housing Executive, which provided a £2998 grant as part of its Race Relations Programme.

Siju George, Program Coordinator at the Newry Indian Arts Club, said: “In 2025 we celebrated the first Newry Mela, which saw over 500 people come together to enjoy live music and dance and celebrate local culture and diversity.

“At Newry Indian Arts Club, we strongly believe that art has the power to connect people beyond boundaries. Indo Celtic Fusion Fest is not just an event, but a platform that encourages cultural exchange and mutual appreciation between communities. Thanks to the Housing Executive for facilitating this opportunity to showcase our two cultures and strengthen community relationships.”

Gerard Smith, Good Relations Officer at the Housing Executive, said: “We’re delighted to support the Newry Indian Arts Club to bring together residents from diverse backgrounds, build connections and provide an accessible cultural event. This helps build a foundation for strong, resilient communities and contributes to more connected, safer and more inclusive neighbourhoods.”
