Police in Newry are appealing for information and witnesses in relation to a report of an assault in the city in the early hours of Saturday 27th December.
Sergeant Nelson said: “It was reported that a man was walking in the Patrick Street area sometime between two and three am, when he was assaulted from behind by an unknown person.
“The victim was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened, and would appeal particularly to anyone with access to CCTV footage which might be able to assist us with our enquiries.
“The number to call is 101, quoting reference number 345 of 27/12/25.”
