Niall Lawlor Co-Opted on to Newry Mourne and Down District Council

Sinn Féin has selected Niall Lawlor for co-option to replace Leeanne McEvoy as Councillor for the Mournes area on Newry Mourne and Down District Council.

Speaking after being selected at a selection convention in Bryansford, Mr. Lawlor said:

“I am proud and honoured to have been selected for co-option to Newry Mourne and Down District Council to replace Leeanne McEvoy, who is stepping down for personal reasons.

“I have worked closely with Leanne over many years and know the great work she has done for the people of Bryansford, Kilcoo and the wider area. I am determined to continue on that work.

“I moved to the Mournes because I fell in love with the area, and now as a first-time father, I am committed to working hard to deliver for workers, families and communities across the Mournes.”

South Down MP Chris Hazzard congratulated Niall on his selection and said that he looked forward to working with him.

“Niall is already deeply invested in the Mournes community and brings with him years of experience supporting constituents on the most crucial issues. As part of a strong Sinn Féin team across South Down, Niall will work hard to deliver for workers, families and communities.”

South Down MLA Cathy Mason MLA added:

“Niall will be a fantastic representative for this area. Along with all our team of Sinn Féin representatives, we will work together to deliver on the issues that matter to our families, workers and communities.”
