Sinn Féin MLA for Newry and Armagh Cathal Boylan, has condemned the armed robbery in Markethill in which a man carrying a hammer stole mobile phones from commercial premises in the Fairgreen area.
Cathal Boylan MLA said:
“This was a frightening incident for staff and customers. My thoughts are with the business owner, the staff and all those impacted. There is no place for violent or threatening behaviour in our community, and the use of a weapon to carry out a crime is totally unacceptable.
“I urge anyone with information — including CCTV or dash-cam footage — to bring it forward to police as soon as possible. Even the smallest detail could assist their investigation.
The MLA said he remains in contact with police:
“We will continue working with the police and local partners to ensure those responsible are identified and held to account. People deserve to feel safe as they go about their daily lives.
“Sinn Féin will support all efforts to tackle this dangerous criminal behaviour and ensure our communities remain safe places for everyone.”
