This weekend, the highly anticipated ‘Light Up the Night’ Christmas Tractor & Truck Run illuminated the Mourne area, bolstered by a major sponsorship from Northern Ireland’s largest local insurance broker, AbbeyAutoline, alongside other valued contributors.
The festive run, which saw trucks and tractors adorned with spectacular Christmas lights, aims to raise vital funds for the specialist palliative care provided by Life & Time care, a palliative charity which delivers end of life care to the Rostrevor, Warrenpoint, Burren, Mayobridge, Hilltown, Rathfriland and the lower Mourne area.
The charity provides a community-based ‘on call’ service between the hours of 10pm and 8am for individuals at the end of life, who choose to die at home. Following a GP referral, The Life and Time nurses can provide symptom control at home and support for the family, similar to what you might expect to receive in a hospital setting.
The £1000 sponsorship deepens AbbeyAutoline’s partnership with the charity, for whom they already provide free breakdown assistance to the entire nursing team.
The ‘Light Up The Night’ event, organised by Glenda Hughes from Life & Time and her husband Peter from Hughes Agri Contacts, is a seasonal highlight amongst locals, encouraging families to line the streets and donate to a worthy local cause. On Sunday 30 November, it lit up the local towns of Warrenpoint, Burren, Mayobridge, Rathfriland, and Hilltown.
Founder of Life & Time Dr Henry McLaughlin said: “We are incredibly thankful for AbbeyAutoline’s continued generosity. Their £1,000 sponsorship for the Christmas Tractor Run is a fantastic boost to our fundraising efforts. This support from them and indeed all of our sponsors is invaluable for the work that we do – our unique mission at Life & Time is to provide free, professional, compassionate end of life care for local patients in their own homes during the critical overnight period and AbbeyAutoline’s sponsorship means everything in helping us to achieve this.”
Managing Director of AbbeyAutoline Julie Gibbons commented: “AbbeyAutoline is dedicated to supporting the communities where we live and work. Life & Time Nurses offer exceptional, compassionate care that truly makes a difference across the region. As a broker that provides essential coverage, including specialist Agri and Haulage insurance, we are delighted to be a key sponsor of this brilliant community event. Our financial contribution for charity events such as the Tractor & Truck run, alongside the free breakdown cover we provide, is our way of ensuring the charity has the resources and peace of mind they need to continue their essential work.”
