Councillor Cathal King Invites Comrades to Commemorate the Edentubber Martyrs

Sinn Féin Councillor Cathal King has encouraged people from across the area to attend this year’s Edentubber Commemoration on Sunday, 9th November, to honour the memory of the Edentubber Martyrs.

Councillor King said:

“I am honoured to chair this year’s event. These annual gatherings are a time for reflection, pride, and renewed commitment to the goal of a united Ireland.

Declan Kearney MLA will be speaking at the Commemoration.

“We will assemble at 2:30pm in the Carrickcarnon area near the Carrickdale Hotel before making our way to Edentubber.”

Councillor King continued:

“This Sunday we will gather at Edentubber to honour the memory of those who gave their lives for Irish freedom.

“The story of the Edentubber Martyrs is not just a chapter in our history — it is part of who we are. It reminds us that the struggle for national self-determination was carried by ordinary men who made extraordinary sacrifices for our country.

“Each year we come together not only to remember their courage, but to recommit ourselves to the peaceful and democratic achievement of the Republic for which they gave their lives.”

Councillor King added:

“I encourage republicans, local families, and the wider community to join us this Sunday as we pay tribute to their memory and reflect on the unfinished work of building a free, united, and equal Ireland.

“Bígí Linn – Join us.”
