After the implementation of an hourly Belfast-Dublin Enterprise service in late 2024, Translink’s income and number of passenger journeys have skyrocketed.
This news comes from an Assembly Question posed by Justin McNulty SDLP MLA for Newry and Armagh, who has long been a champion for improved rail connectivity.
According to Translink Management Information, since the commencement of an hourly service, Translink’s income uplift increased £3.5million – that is 45%. This growth is in line with the whopping 37% increase in passenger journeys on the Enterprise train from November 2024 to June 2025 compared to 12 months prior.
MLA McNulty shares:
“I am thrilled to have helped secure an hourly Enterprise service which has proven to be so successful, improving Island connectivity through increased service frequency for commuters and also facilitating more tourism in counties Armagh and Down.”
