Police have charged a 23-year-old man to court following an arrest made in Damolly Retail Park in Newry on Thursday, 2nd October.
The arrest followed a report of an altercation in the driveway of a house in The Demense, involving a man and woman, before the suspect drove away from the scene in the woman’s car.
He is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and a number of driving and drugs-related offences, including hijacking, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and possession of a Class C controlled drug.
He is due to appear before Lisburn Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 4th October.
As is usual procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
