Sinn Féin Councillor Aidan Mathers has welcomed the beginning of construction on a brand new play park in Derrybeg, describing it as a major boost for local families and children.
The new facility is being delivered as part of the Council’s wider Play Park Strategy, and will replace the existing park, which had been in place for almost 20 years.
Speaking today, Councillor Mathers said:
“I’m absolutely delighted to see work now underway on the new play park in Derrybeg. I’ve been pushing to get this confirmed and delivered, and it’s fantastic to see the project now becoming a reality for the community.
“This will be a state-of-the-art facility and a real asset for local families and children. The old park had served the area well for almost two decades, but it was long overdue an upgrade.
“This is a clear example of what targeted public investment can achieve at a local level – and it shows that when communities are organised and represented, things get done.
“Sinn Féin will continue delivering for our communities, ensuring that every child has access to safe, inclusive spaces to play and grow.”
The project is expected to be completed within the next 5 to 6 weeks.
