Dáire Hughes MP Joins Newry Pride In Solidarity With LGBTQ+ Community

Sinn Féin Newry and Armagh MP Dáire Hughes joined the Newry Pride Parade today, hailing the event as a fantastic celebration, despite the rain.

“It was an honour to stand with the LGBTQ+ community at Newry Pride,” Hughes said. “Sinn Féin will always stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and fight for the human rights of all, regardless of their identity.

“While the weather wasn’t as hoped, the colour, vibrancy, and spirit of the event were incredible. Today’s celebration showcased the strength, resilience, and unity of the LGBTQ+ community in Newry and beyond.

The Newry Armagh MP also praised those who made the event possible: “A special thanks to the Newry Women’s LGBTQ+ Group for organising such a memorable day and to everyone involved in bringing Pride to life. Their hard work ensured the event captured the true spirit of inclusivity. I’d also like to commend everyone else involved in facilitating the event, ensuring it ran smoothly and safely.

“We will always defend the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, not just today, but every day. Sinn Féin is fully committed to advancing equality for all.

“A great day was had by all, and I’m proud to stand with this vibrant, diverse community every step of the way.”
