Sinn Féin Councillors Valerie Harte and John Og O’Kane have called for swift action to end ongoing disruption to bin collections, which has caused understandable frustration for residents across Newry and South Armagh.
Councillor Valerie Harte, Sinn Féin group leader on Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, said:
“I have been engaging directly with senior council officers and residents to have this resolved as quickly as possible,”
“Residents pay their rates and deserve reliable service, along with clear and timely communication from the Council.”
Sinn Féin Councillor for Armagh, John Óg O’Kane added;
“There has been recent disruption to some bin collections services in Armagh. I have been working with council officials and residents to get these issues resolved and ensure bin collection returns to normal.
“If your bins haven’t been collected, please reach out to any member of the Sinn Féin team and we’ll work to get this resolved.”
Newry & Armagh MP Dáire Hughes added:
“Sinn Féin is pushing for an immediate end to the disruption of bin collections across Newry and Armagh.
“The Council has a duty to deliver the services people pay their rates for.
“We know council staff work hard to deliver a service for residents across this constituency. We also know that various factors can contribute to disrupting bin collections, but it is the responsibility of senior council officials to make sure services are delivered to the highest standard.
“We will continue to press for the highest standard of seamless bin collection services across all areas.”
