Ireland Must End Role In Israeli Bonds – Murphy

Sinn Féin Senator Conor Murphy has welcomed the findings of the Oireachtas Committee report on the Israeli Bonds Programme, which concludes that Ireland’s Central Bank should not be complicit in facilitating Israeli bonds.

Senator Murphy, a member of the Committee, said:

“This report confirms what has become morally and legally undeniable: Ireland should not be helping finance Israel’s brutal occupation and war crimes against the Palestinian people.

“These bonds are not neutral financial instruments — they help fund a regime engaged in apartheid, displacement, and the mass killing of civilians. The Central Bank must step away, and EU laws must be changed to allow Member States to take a principled stand.”

“The report recommends a full review of the Israeli bond prospectus by the Central Bank and calls on the Irish Government to seek reforms of EU rules, so national authorities can refuse to approve bond sales linked to human rights abuses.

Senator Murphy continued:

“Ireland has no business legitimising or enabling Israel’s crimes through financial approvals. Our values, our laws, and our solidarity with the Palestinian people demand action.

“Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil cannot continue to hide behind technicalities — they must act on these recommendations and remove Ireland entirely from any role in funding Israel’s crimes against humanity.”

“Sinn Féin reiterates its call for a complete end to Ireland’s involvement in the Israeli Bonds Programme, and will continue to press for political and legal action at both national and EU levels to ensure no Irish institution facilitates or legitimises Israel’s ongoing aggression, genocide and ethnic cleansing.”
