Aontú representative in South Armagh, Liam Reichenberg, has warmly welcomed the news that Ireland is to host the 2028 World Tae Kwon Do Championships.
“This is fantastic news for the development of the sport in Ireland. North and south, Ireland has much to offer the world as a host for major sporting competitions such as this. This recognition by the International TaeKwon-Do Federation is very welcome and I am sure everything possible will be done ensure the event is a great success.
“Congratulations and thanks to all those involved in making this happen, including the TaeKwon-Do Alliance Ireland and all their members. I would also like to congratulate all those who represented our country at the championship in Barcelona, returning home with 8 Gold, 18 Silver, and 19 Bronze medals.
“Our local district was very well represented by Cathal Fagan’s squad. I hope they receive the recognition they deserve. Congratulations to you all and I wish you all continued success and growth in the lead up to 2028.”
