SDLP Newry & Armagh MLA Justin McNulty has congratulated the Southern Area Hospice on its 35th anniversary and the launch of its new name and brand: Evora Hospice.
“35 years ago, the Southern Area Hospice was founded on compassion, dignity, and community care. Over more than three decades, it has touched the lives of countless families at their most vulnerable moments. Today marks a proud milestone—not just in years, but in its unwavering commitment to those it serves.
“As times change, so must those who care for us. Evora Hospice’s refreshed brand stands as a powerful symbol of renewal—honouring a rich heritage while embracing a future of expanded services, innovation, and holistic care.
“Chief Executive Liz Cuddy also made the announcement of the ambition to build a new state of the art hospice building in the Newry Area. Aptly, Health Minister Mike Nesbitt was there to hear the exciting news.
“I offer my warmest congratulations to all staff, volunteers, trustees, and supporters who have shaped this extraordinary journey. I was honoured to mark this occasion alongside the Southern Hospice staff, volunteers and supporters, and I look forward to seeing Evora Hospice continue to uplift families in every corner of our community.”
