Councillor Geraldine Kearns has said news that resurfacing of Ardmore Road in Damolly is due to commence in the coming weeks is “long overdue”.
Cllr Kearns said, “My Sinn Féin colleagues and I have been lobbying for resurfacing of Ardmore Road for some time, this road has been in a dire state for a number of years.
“DFI officials have confirmed this scheme will be completed in this financial year, and it is my understanding they hope to be onsite over the summer months.
“This is very welcome news, and I will keep the local community updated once exact dates are finalised and the full details of the scheme made available.
“Sinn Féin will continue to prioritise the issues that matter the most to our constituents, and work with our colleague, Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins, to fix our roads and improve the transport network across Newry.”
