Sinn Féin MLA Cathy Mason has said more must be done by the Department of Education to enhance Irish medium early years education.
Speaking following a meeting of the Assembly’s Education Committee, the party’s spokesperson on childcare and early years said:
“In the face of a lack of support, Irish medium education continues to flourish and give young people an excellent learning environment.
“Despite this, it’s clear more must be done by the department to support Irish medium early years education.
“That means investing in first-class facilities, training and retaining enough early years educators and taking onboard the views of those involved in Irish medium education.
“Sinn Féin will continue to press the department to ensure children who are learning through the medium of Irish are supported to thrive and reach their full potential.”
